Channel A's 'Detectives' Trade Secret' tracks down the true identity of a woman who borrowed approximately 300 million won from her boyfriend on the pretext of 'her mother's death insurance payout' and then went into hiding. The broadcast also reveals the additional shock of her embezzlement of academy funds.
The client met his girlfriend in February 2025 while working a side job as a pet taxi driver, and lent her about 300 million won over the course of a year. The girlfriend claimed she had lost both parents and said she had 200 million won in debt from her mother's medical expenses. Starting with 13 million won purportedly to lift a seizure by a private lender, she demanded money on multiple occasions. The client, told that an 800 million won death insurance payout from his mother would soon be deposited, even took out loans to raise the funds, but ultimately found himself struggling financially.
"He Lent 130 Million Won for Rent, but the Landlord Says He 'Never Received It'"
The case took a new turn as an investigation began into the academy housing where the girlfriend claimed to work. The detective team met with the landlord of the academy housing where she had stayed and confirmed the facts regarding rent. Contrary to the claim that the client had lent her 130 million won for rent, the landlord replied that nearly 100 million won in rent had gone unpaid. It was also confirmed that rent for three residence units had been in arrears since July 2025, where the girlfriend, her extramarital lover, the client, and the lover's legal wife had lived.
It was revealed that the girlfriend had referred to the client as a 'stalker' to the landlord and blocked contact with him. The landlord testified that she had brought men in their 40s to 60s to pay her rent instead, and described her as "a person wearing thousands of masks."
"Even the 'Vice Director' Title and Housing Support Were Lies... She Was a Phone Counseling Staffer"
When the detective team visited the academy where the girlfriend claimed to have worked as 'vice director,' an academy official stated that she was in fact a phone counseling employee hired through a job-search website, and that both the 'vice director' title and the housing support were false. It was also revealed that she had pocketed cash tuition fees and diverted academy funds.
Her family's testimony was equally shocking. The girlfriend's younger sister, meeting with the detective team, said, "My mother fell ill because of her," adding, "We don't even treat her as a person anymore." The sister also expressed shock over the mother's death insurance claim document the girlfriend had shown to the client.
Defconn, appearing on the broadcast, expressed anger at the girlfriend's lies and conduct, saying, "Every time she opens her mouth, it's a lie," and added, "It makes my blood boil." Yoo In-na said, "How can a person be like that?" and was unable to continue.
The truth behind the 300 million won the girlfriend borrowed and its background will be revealed on Channel A's 'Detectives' Trade Secret,' airing Monday, August 24 at 10 p.m.
