■ Market Attention Turns to FOMC... Caution Advised Over Expanded Volatility
Market attention is focused on the outcome of the U.S. FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting. The decision on the benchmark interest rate, along with comments from Federal Reserve officials that could signal the future direction of monetary policy, may amplify volatility in domestic and global stock markets.
In particular, if signals on the interest rate path turn out more hawkish than expected, investor sentiment could shrink, whereas a dovish message could generate additional upward momentum centered on growth and technology stocks. Accordingly, the domestic stock market is expected to see divergent price movements across sectors as it digests the FOMC outcome.
