Shuhua of the group (G)I-DLE (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, Shuhua) marked a successful screen debut with her first lead role in 'Happily Ever After' at the 31st Busan International Film Festival, as the film was invited to the 'A Window on Asian Cinema' section.
From the Red Carpet to Stage Greetings... An Enthusiastic Atmosphere On-Site
Starting with the opening ceremony on the 6th, Shuhua carried out a packed schedule on the 7th, including an outdoor stage greeting, an official press conference, and a GV (conversation with the audience), engaging in deep communication with moviegoers.
She appeared on the opening ceremony red carpet in a pink dress, responding to the enthusiastic cheers of fans with skilled fan service, heating up the atmosphere.
At the outdoor stage greeting held at the Outdoor Theater of the Busan Cinema Center on the afternoon of the 7th, she was joined by director Fiona Roan and fellow actors Jin Sun and Chae Beom-hee. Shuhua fostered a warm mood by personally teaching her co-stars Korean greetings.
"Anticipation Rather Than Nervousness... Curious About Audience Reactions"
At the subsequent official press conference, Shuhua shared her thoughts: "I was very nervous at first, but rather than tension, I came to feel anticipation. It is an honor to come to such a big film festival with my first lead role, and I am very curious about the audience's reactions."
Regarding her character Kitty (Lin Jiazhi), she said, "She resembles me in her bravery," introducing her as "a character who ponders what happiness is and seeks it out with anticipation."
At the GV that followed, she conveyed her ambitious aspirations as an actress, saying, "I feel a very strange mix of emotions. While watching, I hope I could briefly forget that I am Shuhua and be seen as the real Kitty. I will work even harder going forward."
"Foretelling the Birth of a New Actress"... Global Momentum Continues
'Happily Ever After' depicts the story of two sisters with completely different personalities whose peaceful daily lives are shaken and transformed when a stray cat happens to enter their home. Shuhua delivered a passionate performance as Kitty, the youngest of the family and a lively, innocent protagonist.
The Busan International Film Festival praised her, saying, "Shuhua of (G)I-DLE's acting foretells the birth of a new actress," expressing high expectations for her screen performance.
Meanwhile, Shuhua's first lead film 'Happily Ever After' continues its global run, having been officially invited to the 'World Focus' section of the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, following its world premiere screening at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival.
