The virtual asset market showed broad weakness on the afternoon of the 14th. Major coins including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple (XRP), and Solana declined from the previous day, drawing attention to the market's direction following the release of the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Bitcoin at $82,848... Ethereum, Ripple, Solana All Decline

As of 10:34 p.m. on the 14th, Bitcoin was trading at $82,848.96 on CoinMarketCap, down 0.44% from the previous day and down 1.42% over the past hour.

Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, fell 1.00% from the previous day to $2,480.48, and dropped 1.80% over the past hour, continuing its weakness.

Ripple (XRP) was down 0.28% from the previous day at $1.36, with a 1.86% decline over the past hour.

Binance Coin (BNB) slipped 0.34% from the previous day to $738.59, while Solana traded at $105.75, down 0.84% from the previous day.

Dogecoin fell 1.02% from the previous day to $0.08332, and dropped 2.37% over the past hour. Hyperliquid (HYPE) declined 0.67% from the previous day to $80.63.

Tron and Zcash Rise... Short-Term Trend Turns Downward

Some virtual assets maintained upward momentum. Tron (TRX) rose 1.68% from the previous day to $0.3333, and Zcash (ZEC) also climbed 2.49% to $1,221.55. However, both are showing declines over the past hour.

As most major virtual assets have fallen over the past hour, attention is also focused on short-term price movements. However, 24-hour changes vary by asset, and the market as a whole is not showing a uniform trend.

U.S. September CPI at 3.7%... A Key Variable for the Virtual Asset Market

The U.S. September CPI released today is a notable variable for the virtual asset market. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the September CPI rose 3.7% year over year, while core CPI, excluding food and energy, increased 2.6% from the same period a year earlier. These figures exceed both the August CPI increase of 3.4% and the core CPI increase of 2.4%.

Price indicators are considered an important variable for the virtual asset market as well, since they can shift market expectations about U.S. monetary policy. In particular, interest rate outlooks may affect investor sentiment toward risk assets.

Whether Bitcoin Holds the $82,000 Level Is Key

With major virtual assets showing weakness after the U.S. CPI release, it remains to be seen whether Bitcoin can hold the $82,000 level and whether major coins such as Ethereum and Ripple can stage a rebound. However, it is difficult to conclude definitively whether the current decline was directly affected by the release of the price data.
