The Korean government has launched an urgent response after a critical security vulnerability was discovered in PHP, a programming language widely used on websites around the world.
On the 22nd, it was reported that the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) had requested security measures the previous night from organizations participating in the Cyber Threat Analysis and Sharing System (C-TAS) and from companies obligated to report to their Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs).
This vulnerability allows external parties to execute server code without any authentication, and if exploited, it could have a serious impact on system security.
The PHP development team has urgently released versions 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, and 8.2.35, which patch the vulnerability, and has advised users to update immediately. Companies and developers using the affected versions need to apply the latest versions as quickly as possible.
