KOSDAQ Plunges 3.83%... Barely Holds 720 Level
On the 30th, the KOSDAQ index finished the regular session at 724.38, down 28.85 points (3.83%) from the previous trading day.
The index opened at 737.76 and rose to as high as 739.79 intraday, but then extended losses and fell to 717.27. In the final hours of trading, it recouped some losses and recovered the 720 level.
Bio and Semiconductor Stocks Fall Together... 9 of Top 10 by Market Cap Decline
Among the top stocks by market capitalization, bio and semiconductor-related shares led the decline. Nine of the top 10 stocks by market cap ended lower, with HLB the only exception.
Large-cap bio stock Alteogen closed at 209,000 won, down 11,000 won (5.00%) from the previous session. EcoPro finished at 79,000 won, down 2,400 won (3.27%), and EcoPro BM closed at 89,800 won, down 2,200 won (2.39%).
Semiconductor-related stocks posted steep declines as well. Simmtech ended at 112,000 won, down 11,400 won (9.24%), the biggest drop among the top 10 by market cap. Wonik IPS also closed at 87,100 won, down 8,800 won (9.18%).
Jusung Engineering fell 15,100 won (8.53%) to 169,100 won. Rainbow Robotics closed down 20,000 won (5.29%) at 358,000 won, and Eotech fell 3,500 won (7.35%) to 384,500 won. Samchundang Pharm dropped 7,700 won (4.08%) to 180,900 won.
HLB, the Only Riser Among Top 10 Stocks
In contrast, HLB finished at 41,700 won, up 2,000 won (5.04%) from the previous trading day, the only gainer among the top 10 by market cap.
