The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 1st that it has booked five individuals, including Mr. A, the CEO of the prime contractor, on charges of violating the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act in connection with the Seosomun overpass collapse accident.
Those booked include Mr. A, as well as the CEO of the subcontractor and the site manager. In particular, Mr. A, as the prime contractor, is facing charges of violating the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
Meanwhile, Mr. B, the site manager of the construction company who died in this accident, is subject to charges of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Act, but the case is expected to be closed with 'no right to prosecute' due to his death.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government, the project owner, was excluded from booking as it does not fall under the category of punishable offenses under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
