LG U+ announced that, in celebration of the Month of Patriots and Veterans, it supported the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) within the 'Everyone's Honors Market' app to help veterans reduce their telecommunication costs and support the business environment of budget phone (MVNO) small and medium-sized enterprises.
This collaboration was made possible through the 'Everyone's Honors Market,' which has been operated by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs since November of last year to provide lifestyle benefits to veterans. On May 29, three budget phone companies—iZ Vision Co., Ltd., Ins Korea Co., Ltd., and Chance Mobile Co., Ltd.—and the app operator signed an MOU at the Gasan Digital Complex in Seoul, agreeing to introduce rate plans for veterans and pursue joint promotions.
Through this MOU, a total of 24 budget phone rate plans, with eight plans per company, will be launched on the 'Everyone's Honors Market' app starting in mid-June. These rate plans will be offered at discounted prices of approximately 20 to 30 percent, and promotions will run for about three months. Specific details about the rate plans can be checked through the app.
LG U+ expected that this collaboration would serve as an opportunity to analyze the usage patterns and age-specific demand for budget phones among national patriots and veterans, bereaved families, and discharged military personnel. Furthermore, the company evaluated that clear targeting of veterans holds significance as a cooperative model that enables budget phone SMEs to connect with potential customers.
Park Dae-yong, head of the MVNO Business Division at LG U+, stated, "This collaboration is a win-win case that provides veterans with reasonable options for telecommunication rates while supporting budget phone SMEs in meeting customers stably." He added, "We will continue to explore collaborations that consider both social value and the support of the industrial ecosystem in the future."
