[Breaking] Investor Sentiment Plummets as KOSPI Triggers 'Sell-Side Circuit Breaker'… Nuclear Stocks Including Doosan Enerbility Decline Across the Board
CBC News

On the morning of the 7th, domestic nuclear power-related stocks are showing a downward trend across the board. Investor sentiment contracted sharply in the KOSPI market on this day to the extent that a 'sell-side sidecar,' which temporarily suspends the effectiveness of program sell orders, was triggered, and nuclear power stocks were unable to avoid the broader market's bearish trend.

As of 10:36 a.m. on the same day, the price movements of major nuclear power stocks varied depending on the extent of their declines. Among the stocks with relatively limited declines, KEPCO KPS recorded 45,050 won (-0.6%), followed by Soosan Industries at 21,800 won (-1.3%), and Orbitech at 5,240 won (-1.5%). Daechang Solution and Woojin Entec both declined by 2.7%, trading at 1,628 won and 16,340 won, respectively.

Large-cap and top market-capitalization representative stocks experienced relatively steeper declines. Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) dropped 3.5% to 37,750 won, and Woojin traded at 15,180 won (-3.9%). In particular, Doosan Enerbility fell 5.4% to 80,800 won, while KEPCO Engineering & Construction and Woori Technology recorded sharp corrections of 100,600 won (-5.8%) and 10,870 won (-6.6%), respectively.

As risk-averse sentiment expanded across the market, volatility in the KOSPI market increased. With the sell-side sidecar triggered amid the sharp downturn and program trading temporarily restricted, the unstable trend has continued, leading investors to increasingly adopt a wait-and-see approach.
