Hanwha Systems will purchase additional shares of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) worth up to 500 billion won, further strengthening business cooperation between the two companies.
According to Hanwha Systems on the 8th, the company held a board of directors meeting and announced that it decided to purchase up to 3,121,098 KAI shares on the open market within a 500 billion won limit. The acquisition limit amount represents 9.99% of Hanwha Systems' equity capital (5,099,999,101,579 won).
The funds will be raised in cash, and the purchases will be made sequentially on the open market over approximately six months from July to December 2026. The scheduled acquisition date specified in the regulatory filing is December 31, 2026, and may vary depending on actual progress.
The calculated number of shares to be acquired (3,121,098 shares) was computed based on KAI's closing price of 160,200 won as of July 7, 2026. Since the 500 billion won approved by the board is the maximum investment limit, the actual purchase amount may vary depending on future market prices and the progress of purchases.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Systems currently holds 1,487,530 KAI shares. If the additional purchase is completed as planned, the total holdings will increase to 4,608,628 shares, bringing the final stake to 4.73%.
Hanwha Systems officially stated that the purpose of this share acquisition is to "strengthen business cooperation."
