The U.S. New York stock market is showing an upward trend on the 15th (local time). Following the previous day's Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Producer Price Index (PPI) released today also came in below market expectations, providing significant support to investor sentiment.

As of 10:55 p.m. on the 15th (Korean time), the three major indices are all on the rise.

  • Dow Jones Industrial Average: 52,707.32, up 199.05 points (0.38%) from the previous session
  • S&P 500 Index: 7,566.71, up 23.12 points (0.31%)
  • Nasdaq Composite Index: 26,227.31, up 120.30 points (0.46%)

The U.S. June PPI released today rose 5.5% year-on-year, coming in below market expectations. In particular, it fell 0.3% month-on-month, indicating that price pressures have eased somewhat. The core PPI, excluding food, energy, and trade services, rose 5.1% year-on-year.

The previously released June CPI also rose 3.5% year-on-year, missing expectations and growing hopes for a slowdown in inflation. Market attention is now focused on how these back-to-back price indicators will affect the U.S. Federal Reserve's (Fed) monetary policy outlook.

The market is paying close attention to the possibility that interest rate burdens could ease if signals of cooling inflation persist, while also seeking to gauge the policy direction through upcoming additional economic indicators and remarks from Fed officials. Investors are closely watching whether the New York stock market can sustain its upward momentum amid such favorable conditions.
