As Samsung Electronics ramps up its robotics business, domestic robot-related stocks surged across the board. With both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ continuing their upward trend and investment sentiment improving, a wave of buying poured into the robotics theme.

Performance of Major Robot Stocks as of 11:04 a.m. on the 22nd

Rainbow Robotics traded at 513,000 won, surging 24.66%. Doosan Robotics also rose 12.98% to 72,200 won. In addition, other major stocks are showing an overall upward trend, including Robotis (+20.08%), Hurim Robotics (+18.91%), Robostar (+18.84%), Clobot (+15.26%), POSCO DX (+12.32%), Yuil Robotics (+11.74%), and SFA (+3.15%).

Expectations Sparked by Samsung Electronics' Establishment of the 'RX Business Promotion Team'

The key driver behind the strength in robot stocks is Samsung Electronics' announcement the previous day. Samsung Electronics stated that it has established the 'RX Business Promotion Team,' a robotics organization directly under the CEO, to fully accelerate its robotics business, a future growth engine. Analysts note that as Samsung Electronics announced plans to build an integrated promotion system spanning from robot strategy formulation and core technology development to commercialization, interest in the overall related industry is expanding.

Risk Appetite Recovers as Both Major Indices Rise

The fact that both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ rose simultaneously in the domestic stock market on this day, partially restoring risk appetite, is also cited as a factor supporting investment sentiment in robot stocks. The KOSPI is currently up more than 5%, and the KOSDAQ is up more than 2%.

Geopolitical Risks Persist... Remaining a Variable

However, the market is also paying attention to the fact that geopolitical tensions surrounding the United States and Iran remain a variable. This is because if uncertainty surrounding the Middle East expands, it is difficult to rule out the possibility that volatility in global financial markets could increase again. Given that domestic and foreign stock markets have recently been exhibiting high volatility in response to external variables, some opinions suggest that robot stocks should also be evaluated not only based on individual momentum but also in conjunction with global stock market trends and geopolitical risks.
