Global pop star Shakira has released a video greeting in Korean, drawing enthusiastic responses from Korean fans.

Shakira posted a short Korean greeting video on her official Instagram. In the video, she gazes at the camera with a shy expression and delivers a greeting in Korean, and the video immediately became a hot topic across online communities and social media.

French dancer Kani appears in the background of this video. Kani, who is married to a Korean husband and is active in the Korean broadcasting industry, served as the chief choreography planner for the official 2026 FIFA World Cup theme song 'Dai Dai.' She personally taught and directed Shakira's afro pelvic choreography and, during the World Cup opening ceremony rehearsal, wore a Red Devils uniform while leading dancers from around the world. Kani taught Shakira Korean in the practice room, which led to the creation of this greeting video. Meanwhile, the meeting between Shakira and BTS also garnered significant attention. Following BTS's performance of 'Dynamite' at the World Cup final halftime show held on July 20 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, Shakira closed out the show with 'Dai Dai.' After the performance, BTS leader RM posted a photo of the members with Shakira on his Instagram Story with the caption 'QUEEN.' Shakira also posted a group photo with all BTS members on her own Instagram with the message 'BTS♡.'

Online responses continued with comments such as, 'I hope Shakira and BTS do a joint performance when she comes to Korea,' and 'Kani infused Korean energy perfectly into Shakira's pelvic choreography.'

Shakira set an all-time streaming record on Spotify in the United States on the day of the final. She also achieved a 'triple crown' by taking first place on the Weekly Global Chart, the Billboard 'Global (Excl. U.S.)' Chart, and the YouTube Global Chart.

Following this, she will hold U.S. arena concerts for her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' world tour on July 20 and 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on July 23 at the UBS Arena, and on July 25 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
