Alteogen announced on the 5th via a regulatory filing that it has signed an exclusive licensing (technology out-license) agreement for its recombinant human hyaluronidase product, 'ALT-B4.'
[Contract Overview and Scale] This agreement covers the development and commercialization of a subcutaneous (SC) injection formulation by applying ALT-B4—a technology based on Alteogen's 'Hybrozyme' platform—to one of the partner company's products.
The total contract value is up to USD 365 million. Applying the filing exchange rate (KRW 1,429.90 per USD as of August 4, 2026, based on the Seoul Foreign Exchange Market rate), this amounts to approximately KRW 521.9 billion. This figure includes upfront payments as well as development and commercialization milestones.
[Financial Terms and Period] Sales royalties will be generated separately from the contract amount. Alteogen plans to receive sales royalties at a certain percentage of net sales generated after the first commercial sale of the product incorporating ALT-B4. The company expects to receive the upfront payment within 30 days from the contract's effective date of August 5, 2026.
The counterparty was not disclosed due to confidentiality obligations. The contract was signed on August 4, 2026, and the contract period runs from August 5, 2026, through the expiration of the sales royalty period.
[Risks and Precautions] This agreement is a conditional contract premised on approval from regulatory drug authorities. Alteogen explained, "The timing and scale of revenue recognition may vary depending on the success of clinical trials and product approval, and the contract may be terminated in the event of reasons such as discontinuation of research and development or failure to obtain product approval."
Additionally, the company noted that since the maximum contract amount includes all development and commercialization milestones, the actual amount received may decrease in the event of clinical trial failure or reduced sales scale. The company withheld disclosure of detailed contract terms—including the counterparty, development product, upfront payment, milestones, and royalties—citing the protection of business competitiveness and confidentiality obligations.
