A state of emergency has been declared as 105 wildfires broke out simultaneously in British Columbia, western Canada.

The New York Times (NYT) reported on the 8th (local time) that the state government issued evacuation orders as wildfires in the region spread rapidly. Evacuation orders have been issued for approximately 18,000 residents in the western part of British Columbia.

■ Area 30 Times the Size of Yeouido Lost in a Single Day

The wildfire burned 25,000 acres (approximately 101 square kilometers) in a single day. That is more than 30 times the area of Yeouido. Flames reportedly soared to heights of about 60 meters at one point.

British Columbia Premier David Eby described the wildfire scene as "like a bomb going off." Premier Eby expressed concern, saying, "The situation is extremely dangerous and changing by the moment" and "The flames are moving incredibly fast."

■ More Than 2,000 Personnel Deployed… Power Outages Reported

More than 2,000 firefighters and structural protection personnel are currently mobilized for firefighting operations. However, the extent of building damage caused by the wildfires and whether there are any injuries have not yet been officially tallied.

The town of Summerland, located about 420 kilometers from Vancouver, has lost power as a result of the wildfires.

Authorities expect the wildfire situation to worsen over the coming days, and weather conditions are also forecast to deteriorate further.
