Quantum computing-related stocks closed lower across the board on the New York Stock Exchange on the 16th (local time). Most major names declined, with some posting drops of 8-10%, drawing attention.

◆ Declines by Stock... Horizon Quantum Falls by Double Digits

IonQ, considered a leading name in the quantum computing sector, closed down 8.93% from the previous session. The steep decline in the bellwether stock drew attention to the price movements of related stocks overall.

Horizon Quantum Holdings posted the most notable drop, plunging 10.40% for a double-digit decline. Infleqtion fell 9.81% and Zenodat Quantum Technologies 8.98%. Rigetti Computing lost 6.57%, while Qutrex Quantum and Pascal Holdings closed down 5.06% and 3.57%, respectively.

The broad decline among major quantum computing stocks suggested selling pressure across the sector, with some names showing particularly large drops and pronounced volatility.

◆ Tech Stock Weakness Weighs... Nasdaq Falls 2.15%

The New York market also weakened, led by technology shares. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.34% and the S&P 500 declined 1.09%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dropped 2.15%.

Concerns over the profitability of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure investment and rising international oil prices appear to have weighed on investor sentiment. Selling concentrated in semiconductor and AI-related names, amplifying volatility across tech stocks, and quantum computing stocks were unable to escape this market mood.

Whether quantum computing stocks can rebound and recover their losses, or whether caution around tech stocks persists, will be the key point to watch.
