Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, aka 'Samhynix,' Rebound Together... Weakness in U.S. Markets Remains a Variable to Watch

Samsung Electronics and SK hynix both closed higher on the 16th, marking a joint rebound for the so-called 'Samhynix' pair, Korea's representative semiconductor stocks. Attention is now focused on whether the upward momentum will continue into the new trading week beginning on the 19th.
Based on the closing prices on the 16th, Samsung Electronics finished trading at 217,000 won, up 7,000 won (3.33%) from the previous session. SK hynix closed at 1,265,000 won, up 3,000 won (0.24%).
While both stocks ended higher, key points to watch in the new week include whether Samsung Electronics can extend its gains and whether SK hynix can widen its rebound.
However, the weakness in U.S. markets over the weekend warrants caution. On the 16th (local time), the New York Stock Exchange saw all three major indices close lower amid a slump in major tech stocks, driven by AI-related concerns and a surge in oil prices. In particular, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell around 2.15%, while the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average also declined.
Even though the domestic market achieved a joint rebound on the 16th, the subsequent weakness in U.S. tech stocks makes it difficult to conclude that the upward trend will persist. Early in the new week, it will be necessary to gauge how the U.S. market decline affects investor sentiment toward domestic semiconductor stocks.
Accordingly, all eyes are on whether 'Samhynix' will attempt a further rebound despite external pressures, or whether volatility will increase once again.
