The Korea Information Processing Society has welcomed Choi Jeong-sik, Chairman of BoanNews and IndustryNews, as its new president. Chairman Choi delivered his inaugural remarks at the 63rd regular general assembly held at Sejong University on the 6th and announced plans to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry.

At the general assembly, the society's next leadership was confirmed, with Chae Sang-mi, a professor of Management Information Systems at Ewha Womans University's School of Business, elected as first vice president for 2027.

Chairman Choi Jeong-sik served as first vice president of the Korea Information Processing Society this year. He founded BoanNews and IndustryNews and has contributed to the development of information and industrial technology in the fields of media and specialized exhibitions.

Chairman Choi noted that in an era when digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) are rapidly transforming industry and society as a whole, the society's role has grown even greater in connecting academia with industry and deliberating together on the direction of technological development. He then expressed his ambition to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry and to build an open society where young researchers and field experts can grow together.

According to the Korea Information Processing Society, Chairman Choi Jeong-sik's term will run for one year, from January to December of next year.

The Korea Information Processing Society is a leading academic society in the domestic ICT field. Since its founding in 1993, it has pursued a wide range of activities—including academic conferences, exhibitions, dissemination of information processing knowledge, international exchanges, and standardization—through industry-academia-research collaboration.
