On the 4th at approximately 3:04 p.m., an accident occurred in which about 425 liters of marine diesel leaked into the sea from the Russian-flagged cargo ship 'Vessel A' in the waters off Pier 5 at Gamcheon Port in Busan.

The Busan Coast Guard immediately dispatched emergency personnel to the scene after receiving a marine pollution report and launched containment operations. To prevent the oil slick from spreading further, 200 kilograms of oil absorbents were deployed at the site. After completing approximately five hours of containment work, drones were used to confirm that no secondary pollution or additional damage had occurred.

Meanwhile, immediately after receiving the oil spill report, the Coast Guard conducted a tracing investigation targeting nearby docks and vessels to identify the source of the spill. The investigation revealed that marine diesel had leaked from the Russian cargo ship Vessel A. The Busan Coast Guard is currently conducting an intensive investigation into the exact circumstances of the spill and the cause of the accident, questioning personnel and crew members of Vessel A.
