The ruling and opposition party leaderships clashed sharply over housing supply and economic policies.

Han Byung-do: "Housing Supply Cliff, Responsibility of Previous Administration and People Power Party"

Han Byung-do, acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out at a intra-party strategy meeting at the National Assembly on the 10th that recent figures for housing permits, construction starts, and completions have all collapsed. He criticized the People Power Party for blocking the passage of follow-up legislation to the government's housing supply measures at the plenary session threshold, asking, "Isn't this an act of seeking political gain at the expense of bills directly tied to people's livelihoods and housing stability?"

Floor Leader Han argued that the incompetence of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, the Oh Se-hoon city government, and the People Power Party as the former ruling party is the cause of the supply cliff. He was essentially accusing them of using real estate policy as a tool for political strife. He stated that the government and the Democratic Party would take responsibility and swiftly devise measures for housing stability and supply plans, emphasizing that necessary legislation would be expedited to support the government's housing supply policy.

Regarding the ISA (Individual Comprehensive Asset Management Account) reform plan and the reconsideration of bills to prevent stock price suppression, he explained that opinions from investors, young people, experts, and market participants would be broadly gathered and adjustments would be made through consultations with the government. Regarding the hacking incident involving the party members' community, he reiterated his apologies to the party members.

Jang Dong-hyuk: "Government That Abandoned the People… Demand Ouster of Kim Yong-beom and Push for ETF Special Counsel"

Meanwhile, People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk strongly criticized the real estate and economic policies of the government and the ruling party. He counterattacked that while the Lee Jae-myung administration professes to be a "people's sovereignty government," it has in reality abandoned the people, calling it a "government that abandoned the people." He pointed out that even though the president stated he would not pursue policies that harm people's lives, policies that the public opposes and that only cause harm continue to be rolled out.

Leader Jang demanded the dismissal of Kim Yong-beom, the Blue House Policy Office chief, as well as a parliamentary investigation and a special counsel probe into single-asset leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Regarding housing policy for young people, he mentioned the PHRS housing policy, sarcastically suggesting that instead of telling young people to "go live in PHRS," the Democratic Party should move its headquarters and lawmakers' offices into PHRS units.

With the ruling and opposition parties sharply at odds over responsibility for the housing supply cliff and the passage of key legislation, the standoff over dominance within the National Assembly continues.
