Doosan Enerbility (034020) succeeded in turning upward on the 19th, recovering from intraday weakness. The stock, which had at one point fallen to the low 60,000-won range, rebounded and reclaimed the 65,000-won level. With both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ indices also rising, attention is focused on the afternoon session's trend.
■ Intraday Swing of 5,400 Won... Recovers Losses and Turns Upward
As of 12:52 p.m. on the 19th, Doosan Enerbility is trading at 65,900 won, up 1,300 won (+2.01%) from the previous trading day. The stock opened at 64,400 won. Selling pressure pushed it down to 60,700 won intraday, but it later recovered those losses and turned upward.
The intraday low and high were 60,700 won and 66,100 won, respectively, a swing of 5,400 won. As downward pressure seen in the morning eased, the stock climbed back above the previous day's closing price.
■ KOSPI at 5,719.65 and KOSDAQ at 800.76... Both Indices Rise
At the same time, both major domestic indices are showing strength. The KOSPI is at 5,719.65, up 51.60 points (+0.91%) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ is also trading at 800.76, up 5.98 points (+0.75%), recovering the 800 level.
With both indices rising together, Doosan Enerbility is outpacing the gains in the broader market. However, given the large intraday price swings, whether the current rebound will hold until the close remains to be seen.
■ Nuclear Power and SMR Business Outlook Is a Key Point to Watch
Doosan Enerbility is a company engaged in nuclear power and power generation equipment businesses, and the expansion of investment in Korea-U.S. nuclear cooperation and the global nuclear market is considered a major point of interest. In particular, how business opportunities in large nuclear reactors and small modular reactors (SMRs) will affect future earnings and order prospects is another element the market is watching.
